Last September, we announced the Communiqué Person of the Year Award to recognise Africans whose work over the past year has had a profound and demonstrable impact on the creative economy.
We’ve been working behind the scenes to make this happen, and now it’s time for you to do your part: nominate the people you think are deserving of the award.
Anyone, be it founders, artists, creators, or ecosystem builders, whose work between the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026 you think moves the needle and has a clear, discernible impact, is qualified.
We’ll research and verify every nomination to compile a long list, which an independent panel of industry stakeholders will review to determine the final winner.
Nominations close September 1, 2026.

Initiatives like this matter more than they might seem to on the surface, recognition shapes where attention and capital flow next in the ecosystem. Even reading this after the nomination window, I'm curious to see who makes the list. It'll be a useful signal for founders like me watching to understand what 'demonstrable impact' looks like in practice, not just in pitch decks.
